| Nanjing | bus/ train journey Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 05:20 AM UTC
Hi! I plan to travel from Suzhou to Nanking and stopover in Nanking for a night. I wonder is there any place of interest that I could visit in Nanking? Is it possible to tour around Nanking for a day?
Is there any bus/ train that I could take from Nanking to Xi'An? Is there any night train/ bus service? I plan to save a night of accomodation $. Thanks! |

There are several sites you can visit within the day you are in Nanking. Ming Tombs, Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum and Confucius Temple. They are all historical sites, if you would like to enjoy some natrue sightseeings, you can go to visit the Qinhuai River. The view there is enchanting.
Also, there are trains that you could take from Nanking to Xi'an. 1352/1353 from Nanking to Xi'an 9:02pm-1:42pm 1432/1433B 7:25pm-2:19pm K557/K560 10:58pm-1:54pm K594/K595 7:13pm-10:08am Any other problems you need to clarify, you can send me an email, it's my pleasure to help you. Please note that the current correct spelling is Nanjing, not Nanking.
Of course there're places of interest for you to visit in Nanjing, but what are you interested in? What do you mean by "is it possible to tour around Nanking for a day?" Of course it's possible, why wouldn't it be? Are you talking about sightseeing, or really following a tour? For overnight train Nanjing -- Xi'an you might want to try T138 (1908--0758) or T116 (1923--0738).

There are lots of things to see in Nanjing since it is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China (other three are Beijing, Luoyang, and Xi'an). The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And its 33.7km-long ancient city wall is the longest ever built in the world. Check out
