| Sydney | Renting a car Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 02:31 AM UTC
Hi again, thanks for all the replies to my previous question. Only 3 days away, I'm very excited. I had a question re renting a car in Sydney. I'll be staying in Bella Vista, NSW and will need to travel to Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick during the week every day for one month and was wondering if bus/train is feasible or would u suggest renting a car. Also, any good rental sites? I've looked at the following:
http://www.webcarhire.com/ http://www.standbycars.com.au/ http://www.rentabomb.com.au/index.html and so far about 800 for the month is the cheapest I've found on the first site. any other suggestions??? Thanks again in advance =) Dee |

Also check out Bayswater Car Rental:
http://www.bayswatercarrental.com.au/ratesNSW.aspx I just love this business. You can get a final quote on the phone in about 30 seconds, and you're out of the car rental place with your car in under 5 minutes.

Yep, agree with the above reply! I was going to suggest the same company!
From Bella Vista, you are better off driving, but, there is also a lot of traffic between there and Randwick in peak hours... unless you leave by 6am. Go to www.whereis.com.au for directional suggestions. Also, if you want a rebate on the M4 or M5 motorways, you need an electronic tag but I am unsure if the rental place may assist you there?

From Bella Vista to Randwick by Public Transport woud take two hours. Bella Vista have buses through Westbus, attached is link to trip planner on their website.
http://www.131500.info/realtime/newjourney.asp Westbus will take you into Sydney CBD and you will have to change buses to Randwick. Car hire is a great option, but to be honest, in peak periods, won't be much quicker. If outside of peak times, car hire is the most direct route, however, you will be slugged $4.50 each way on the M2 motorway as well as $3 to cross the harbour bridge. Hope this helps.

If you're heading on the M2, add the following
plus $5 on the eastern distributor heading back. Plus about $2.80 each way on the Lane Cove tunnel. (Don't get me started on this joke... not to mention Epping Rd) Plus $?? on the M7. If you want to avoid tolls, Victoria Rd is heavy, but flows okay. Once in town, cut across to Cleveland st then on to Randwick. Anyone, feel free to correct me. In my opinion, probably better off catching public transport if you're going to hire a car. But we all know how substandard the public transport here is... Good luck with the commute.

Ive personally worked my way through endless car rental sites, but the best one i come across is carrentals.co.uk. Its the only one ive ever used cause ive never had a problem with them and there extremely cheap. There a comparison site so compare all the prices for you! :) hope this helps
