| Livorno | One day in Livorno! Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 06:31 PM UTC
Please help with these questions: Visiting for one day aboard cruise ship.
1. Can I see both Pisa and Florence in one day by train? 2. Would it be possible to do it with a car rental? 3. Is it easy to navigate the roads from Livorno to Pisa and to Florence? 4. How long will it take to get to either by car? 5. From Florence, are there any Tuscan towns or villages we can visit on the way back to Livorno? 6. How far is San Gimignano from Livorno or Florence? |

A rental car can take you from Livorno to Florence in about 1 hour. Easy to drive taking the A12 N from the port and then the A11 E to Florence. I would do Florence first, since it is further away, about 70 miles from Livorno. If you have time to see Pisa after Florenceand another town, then Lucca is closer to Florence, off the A11. If time, see the walled city of Lucca first, then head down to Pisa, before returning to Livorno port. You can rent a car right at the dock of your ship and return to the same place. Allow yourself time to get back at least 45 minutes before sailing.
