Skardu 10-12 Trekking days
Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 04:18 PM UTC
Hi I am planning a Trek in July and interested in a trek that would take 10-12 days. Ideally I would like to do the Concordia trek to K2 base camp, is it possible to complete the trek in 12 days.

Any suggestions on tour operators who can offer flexible itineraries would be great.

Would really appreciate a response.

Well i did the same trek last year, plan was to start the trek from Askole, goto k2 base camp and then using other route, crossing Gondogoro Pass and desending in the Hushey valley, but crossing Gondogoro Pass depends upon the condition as every year there becomes a crevice due to the movement of snow, some time the crevice is fully opened, make it impossible to cross it, sometimes the crevice is not fully opened and one can cross from the side of the crevice, some time the local people building bridge with the help of ropes etc. but unfortunately last year the crevice was very wide, so last year it was no crossing, and i had to come back via the same route, as for number of days, well it depands upon you stemina and how fast you can acclamitise with the weather, once you reach concordia, and you see the K2, it is nearly done, some people find is satisfactory and come back, but some people like to goto K2 base camp, well one can do it in one day, see half day for going to K2 base and spending some moments there and then take half day that is 5 hours to get back to concordia, but i and my friends from Holland we started from concordia early in the morning, when we reached Broad Peak base camp we asked our porters to set camp there and we continued to K2 base camp, and came back to Broad Peak base camp for overnight stay

i think you should add two or three days and make it around 15 days, just as safe side

there are lot of tour operators, the one with whom i did it is Vertical Explorers, and they were good, you can find them at http://www.visitpakistanonline.com/

Hi,

K2 and Gondghoro la, very beautiful itineraries in the heart of Karakoram.
But you should be enough fit for the moraines of Baltoro glacier, because this trek's demanding.

From Askole to K2 base camp and back includes, 13,14 trekking days, there're 2 rest days because one's to approach 5200 m, the base camp and if you're going to Gondghoro la 5600 m pass, just to acclamatize yourself with the altituide, and it's for the professional trekkers.

There's another beuatifl itinerary in little Pamir, wakhan corridor, begins from Matrumdam, Ishkoman valley, almost 12 days , trek across Karombar pass and lake and the into Boroghil valley, then towards Yarkhoon lasht or back to Yasin valley across Darkhote valley.

Look at the pictures on flickr.

I am 2nd to add my voice, and recommend Vertical Explores in Pakistan. I've done some trips with them & always found them good, accommodating and flexible.
Give them a broad range of options so that they can send you back a range of options.
