| Huangshan | similarities of huangshan and emeishan.. Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 02:22 PM UTC
what are the similarities between the two (except for the view, of course). I've only been to emeishan before, and I'm planing to go to huangshan. in emeishan, we just carried one backpack, looked for an accomodation on the spot (and luckily we were able to find one). i just wondered if it's the same in huangshan? and for climbing down the mountain, are their also stairs or not? lastly, does huangshan have any accomodation that is worth 200RMB and below for one night? what about food?

Stairs? Yes.
200RMB? Yes, but not standard room, it's more expensive than in Emei. Food? Expensive, since there are only few hotels on top of Huangshan.

1) No, don't hope to find accommodation on-the-spot in Huangshan, especially if you're trying to keep prices down, and especially if you're going to be there on a Fri/Sat night, or in/around the major holidays.
2) Yes, obviously! 3) Do you mean in the summit area, or Huangshan city? For a bed in a dorm room, or for a private room? 200 RMB or below will get you either ONE BED in a dorm room in the summit area or ONE private ROOM in Huangshan city, or be more than sufficient for TWO BEDS in a dorm room in Huangshan city. It will most definitely NOT get you a private room in the summit area, regardless of season. 4) Food on the mountain is extremely expensive. Reckon on perhaps 10-15 RMB just for a pot of instant noodles and hot water. Bring your own food and water up, or bring enough money to buy the water.

When you say summit area, it means on the mountain area right? If it is, I'm planning to stay there. I don't mind a room wherein I have to use shared bathroom. Any suggestions on place to stay there?

I usually book Baiyun Hotel nowadays. Good value and location.

elysse, i was wondering if you can recommend other good accomadation in the summit area. i just checked the baiyun hostel in the internet, and it says per room is 800rmb, kind of out of my budget.. hehe.. I'll be going alone, so my budget is tight. maybe 500rmb and below will do...(i hope so...)

No hotel in the summit will give you a private room on any day of the week for 500 RMB. You can only get a dorm bed.
Online websites usually won't list dorm beds. Email me at ellyse99@yahoo.com and put "VirtualTourist" and your own username (eg guo_mei_xin) in the subject line and I'll see what I can book for you.
