Hi, we have booked accommodation in Bristol for the Springsteen weekend as nothing available in Cardiff. What is the best way to travel between the two cities using public transport, and bearing in mind we will leaving the Millennium Stadium with thousands of others?

www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you train times and fares. Trains are frequent, taking around 40 minutes to an hour and a bit. Last train is at 23.16

www.nationalexpress.com runs coaches, but the last one leaves at 22.10

I think your best bet is the train, but you will almost certainly find it will be crowded.

I'm not sure where leics is getting that information. June 14th is a Saturday and the last trains to Bristol are at 10pm. The last National Express Bus leaves before 6pm!

There is a train to Newport at 23.42 to take all the drunk pub goers home - if you are planning to catch a taxi to Bristol it would be more cost effective to catch one from Newport (1/3 of the way nearer to Bristol), I would think.

It is daft isn't it, considering the Millennium Stadium is right nextdoor to a mainline train and bus station!!

Have you contacted the Cardiff Tourist Office to make absolutely sure there is no accommodation available in the city?

Got the info off the sites. May well be weekday times though: didn't check to see what day the concert was on.

I'm amazed you was not able to get anywhere in Cardiff to stay. It rarely fills up that much. :). There's normally ample accommodation available in Newport as well.

You will have problems getting back to Bristol after the concert on public transport. You'll need to budget about £80.00 for the trip back to bristol in a taxi (it's normally about £60 but on a Saturday night....?)

My suggestion would be to rethink you accommodation plans

A few of us who live in Cardiff checked for accomodation for that weekend and everywhere seems to be full.
Caerphilly area had accomodation but getting there late at night is almost (if not worse)as bad as getting to Bristol.
There will almost certainly be cancellations taking place in some Cardiff hotels and a late availibilty may well be available. The problem will be if nothing turns up and you could then end up with nowhere to stay.
Just shows how inefficient Cardiff still is if it cannot provide sufficient accomodation to meet the needs.

You should still get rooms in Newport - a whole lot closer than bristol and easier to get to (taxi about £30 - £35.00). There's also some rooms still available in Usk for the 14th June. Still nearer than Bristl (£45.00 taxi as opposed to £80.00)

make sure you change the distance to 20 mile search radius and you should find rooms for avout £70.00 a night.
