| Brunei | Brunei Stopover Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 02:00 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm travelling to Thailand and through to Singapore in June/July and have stopovers in Brunei (on my way to an fro Brisbane) on both legs of the trip. I've only got 8hrs (getting in at 6:30am and leaving at 2:20pm) on a saturday and was wondering if this was enough time to get out of the airport and see some of the city? On the way back I only get in at 11pm and leave 11:45am again on a saturday night/ sunday morning, so don't know what I'd be able to fit in there. I'm not really too sure of how long I'd need to leave for checking in and everything, but I would love to see as much as I can. If anyone has any good ideas that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Hi!
I presume u'll fly with Royal Brunei airlines. Maybe you can join their transit tours, details as follows: http://www.bruneiair.com/promotion/transit/index.asp -m-

The airport is right into town, immigration procedures do not take long to complete and you do have time indeed for a drop into town.
Most interesting thing to do in BSB is by far visiting the water villages (Kampung Ayer) on the Brunei River. Take a taxi at the airport and ask the driver to get you to the riverfront where you can hire a watertaxi and tour the villages. You can negotiate the price for the tour by the hour and a one-hour tour will suffice. Usually drivers do not speak English but you will manage to get to an agreement. On your way back, walking from the riverfront, you can visit the golden-domed mosque and, if you still have time to spare, the few other sights clustered in the compact city center. It won't take more than 4 hours airport door-to-door, leaving you with enough time for catching your next flight. Enjoy your visit to BSB! Giuseppe
