| Vienna | Travelling with a child in Vienna Posted: Sat April 5, 2008 01:39 PM UTC
Hi!
I would like some info on the following please: 1)I've read that you can easily see a concert/opera or play in many theaters in Vienna for less than 10 euros and you can buy tickets (not from those dressed up guys) but from a ticket kiosk right next to the Opera House. Is this true? 2)Also how do I find out about children's performances since we are travelling with our 6-year-old? I tried info.wien.at but no luck for performances during our dates (29/4-3/5) 3)What kind of weather should we expect at the end of april-beginning of May? 4)Is the Butterfly House worth visiting? 5)Are there separate tickets for upper Belvedere? Thanks a lot |

1)standing places are around 2 or 3,50 euros and you get them in the opera just 1,5 hours prior to any performance. The office opposite of the Opera, at the corner opposite of Albertina will sell also the tickets, but I am not sure about such low prices !
3) any type of weather !!! 4) for children its great, tropical butterlies will sit on fuits and even when you take these fruits in your hand, they will not fly away, you flash with your camera, they dont care or fly away 5)most tourists just go to upper Belvedere, so you get seperate tickets !

Schoenbrunn-palace has its own department, where children dress like princes and princesses etc.
minopolis is a city for children close to the UNO-City, a small town made for children

Tickets for classical concerts, opera and theatre are generally offered for half the price on the day of the performance or a couple of hours in advance. There are for example places with restricted view available for 10 euros or less. Simply pop by the theatre or concert hall or the opera and ask!
