| Dubai | Safety in Dubai airport for woman alone Posted: Sat April 5, 2008 10:09 AM UTC
Hi
I'll be arriving in Dubai mid April for short holiday, will meet up fren which fly from another country. I'll have to spend about 3 hours before my friend's arrival. Is it safe for me to be in the airport alone? & is the shopping open 24 hours? My arrival time is 2am. Please advice.... Thanks in advance |

I have passed through Dubai airport a few times as a solo female traveller and had no problems whatsoever. There is a Quiet Lounge up on the first floor and if you can get a seat there then it is possible to get some rest. You should have no problems being alone in the airport. I am not much of a shopper so cannot help with your other question.
Have a great trip!!

Hi there,
As advised you can stay in the airport without any problem. However to have some more information about airport and the facilities check their official site on the following URL: http://www.dubaiairport.com/DIA/English/MainMenu/A Safe trip and good luck.

Yes, you can wear Bikini as long as you are in the beach area, both public and private. Private beaches are more regulated especially for the females. Mamzar beach park is an inexpensive semi-private public beach.

Good morning from Dubai,
you can also visit the public beaches such as JUMEIRAH BEACH PARK. You can wear bikinis there. On "free" beaches you will probably find that hoards of Asian men often sit on the beach in full clothing, staring at women. So it's better to pay a small entrance fee and use the "beach parks". You can also used the beaches of various hotels, at various prices. This, of course, costs a lot more but can sometimes be nice if you want other facilities such as pool, bar, etc.

Where are you staying Ven? There's several kilometres of free public beaches in 'New Dubai' from around Burj Al Arab back to Jumeirah. Bikinis are normal beachwear on them. You're only likely to find men staring at you on the beaches near the city, such as Jumeirah Open Beach, but the police patrol all the time and move any starers off the beach. The beaches further out don't have the problem. (Pics of the beaches on my Dubai Things To Do Tips).
