we are planning a short stay in croatia and wonder if one day the park is adequate to enjoy the waterfalls terraces etc---what would be the best way to spend the day and are there any b/bs nearby for an overnight stay --in mid may do i need to reserve in advance thanks----how long would a drive by car take from zagreb

I think one full day would be perfect. There are tons of "sobe" accommodations nearby--see my Plitvice Jezera page for a complete description of how to find them.

The drive from Zagreb would take you at least 1-2 hours, depending on how you drive and how many cars are on the roads. There are several small villages only a few minutes from the entrance to Plitvicka Jezera. We entered the town and went to the tourist information bureau and they helped us find lodging. One day is enough to see all aspects of the park, but after you see it you may want to stay longer. Martin
