| Buenos Aires | Day trip to Iguazu? Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 11:02 PM UTC
We wil be in B.A beginning of June,we want to make a day trip to Iguazu falls, see both the argentinian and the brazilian side, have a lunch and walk around. so is it better to stay overnight in Iguazu?or can we still have enough time if we go and back in the same day?
Thanks. |

I had been in Iguazu once and I perceived Hotels in Brazil are better.
However the argentinian sight from Falls are better. So I believe an overnight on Foz do Iguaçu (Brazilian city) would be nice. Cassiovieggore

I am not sure you could make it in a day-trip from Bs As even if you would, but do plan to spend some quality time at Iguazu Falls and enjoy one of the most spectacular natural scenery of the world. Do overnight, absolutely.

a day trip to see both sides will be pushing it.
i would leave in the morning from B.Aires, see the brazil side (only 2-3 hrs depending on activities), stay the night, and next day spend the whole day at falls, flying back on the latest flight. check http://www.aerolineas.com.ar for flight info.

I would definitely not recommend trying to do it in a day. The domestic flights in Argentina are notorious for being late, I wouldn't risk it. At least one overnight would make the trip muchless rushed.

Recommendations:
- visit the falls at least for 2 days - stay in Puerto Iguazu, much more authentic - try to fly with LAN Argentina, much more reliable happy travels Jaap

I would stay at least the night before or after in Foz de Iguazu or Iguassu city. it would be a full day to visit both sides of the falls in one day. Be prepared for crowds and a wait to board the train (up to half an hour) (argentinian side) or bus (brazilian side)- thats what really takes the time.
THe Brazilian side you can do in 2-3 hours and offers a better view of the falls. The Argenitinan side 4-5 hours and you get up much closer (be prepared to get very wet!)

Stay overnight - especially if you can be there for the full moon - they open the park up in the evenings for this on the Argentinian side and it's even more spectacular than the daytime.

I returned from Iguazu yesterday!
I stayed 3 days in Puerto Iguazu, its more peaceful but very nice for a base. Who cares about nightlife here, u will care about the falls! DAY 1. I visited the brazilian side of the falls (3 hours, nice panoramic views of the falls) and the bird park. DAY 2. I did the SAN IGNACIO tour to see the ruins etc DAY 3. I spent all day in argentinian side of the falls. Great paths, near the falls, in the morning I was almost alone, no people around, the tour buses start to come after 11:00am. Dont forget to visit the Garganta del Diablo fall at the end cause in the morning the sun wont be nice for ur camera. I returned back in Buenos Aires by plane (LAN CHILE), no more buses for me, thanx! :) have fun konstantinos

I would seriously not recommend a day trip. I travlled from Porto Alegre to Foz by road and i stayed in Foz for 3 days. even excluding the journey, Foz is def worth staying atleast for 2 days to enjoy the real natural beauty of the falls. It is much more beautiful than niagara (sorry guys)...a little above victoria falls as well..dont miss the jet boat ride!
