Hi Rupanjana,
If you don't mind a curfew, then try the Suore Canossiane - nuns who provide accommodation for women overnight. It was EUR 15 per night when I visited and was basic but clean and welcoming. Or at least until we broke the curfew! There is a very strict 10:30pm curfew which is fine if you're travelling alone but may not be what you want if with friends. It's on the island of Giudecca which is quick and easy to get to from the station with by ferry. You can't book in advance but they have plenty of beds. Some info here: http://www.hostels.com/en/hosteldetailsnobooking.p

Hi! I'd recommend trying Venere.com, Hostalz.com. Budget.com for starters, These all give you accomm on maps, so you can suss out where you want to be, for the best price.
Venice is quite a small place - around the station is probably one of the cheapest areas though. If you are on a budget consider room only rather than B+B as breakfasts are often quite basic - You might be better grabing a coffee and pastry at a cafe with the locals! Sometimes the hotels/town houses etc are as cheap as hostels. Hope this is of some help- please feel free to contact me again for more info. Best Wishes, Sue X

the site I found by clicking on the link was a hostel called Plus Alba D'Oro Camping. Is it the same one you referred to ? DO you think i'll get a bed there just by walking in? and from the main station, how do i go there?
Thanks again
