| Madagascar | Flights to Tana for October - December 08 Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 08:18 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
I'm due to fly out to Tana in the first week of October 08 for 2 months, thing is I'm hoping to get a cheaper flight than I've found so far, seems that October is more expensive than Summer. Cheapest fare I have so far is 994 EUR with Air France around 4th October - 6th December. Anyone know of any specialists that may have cheaper air fares for that period? Many thanks in advance Tem |

Hi. Flights to Tana from South Africa are and always have been very expensive but even so Euro 994 sounds too much. Only suggestion I have is to investigate flying via Mauritius or Johannesburg. Ex Jhb I flew two weeks ago for the equivalent of Euro 416, so it all depends what you can get for a flight to Jhb from Paris. There are specials from Mauritius to Tana which might make that a workable option, maybe someone in Mauritius can assist?
The problem is that Madagascar is so far from Europe and not exactly on major tourist routes (yet)

Thanks, a friend told me perhaps that I'm looking too early in advance and that I should try again in 2 months time when some reductions would be available, there are currently no discounts on any seats for then. I wonder also, is it expensive because it is Summer time in Mada during that period? (4 months before departure). I could fly from London or Paris, it just seems that Paris is about 500 EUR cheaper to fly from. I will consider the flight to Mauritius or Réunion if it's cheaper.
Thanks

Hi Tem,
I have spent some time on this and you have the best deal. I even checked flight direct and indirect from London. I paid 600 Euors just between Jo'burgh and Antananarivo. Air Madagascar has flights on Tuesdays from Paris and their website is almost useless. I booked over the telephone. You may want to ring them for a price: 73, Bd Haussmann 75008 Paris Escalier A, 1er étage Métro : Saint Augustin Tel: 08 92 70 18 19 Fax: 33 1 43 79 30 33 E-mail: resa@airmadagascar.frThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it commercial@airmadagascar.frThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it agence@airmadagascar.frThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Opening hours: Monday to Thursday: 9h - 17h On Friday: 9h - 16h On Saturday: 9h - 12h Local time Also, it is a long flight and Madagascar is slightly off the tourist route compared to Johannesburgh or Nairobi. It is not going to be cheap I am afraid. HAve you checked with French PAckage Holiday Charter airlines? TUI in the UK now sells just the seats instead of the seats and hotel. Good luck! All the best, DAO

Corsair also flies Madagascar, and they are cheaper than Air France. Ask them.
I know there are there are also Air France tickets being auctioned online, and depending on your chance, they can come very very cheap (I have heard of sometimes less than 100€. I have no personal experience to relate here as only flights departing from Paris are sold like that), and here you have to be flexible of course. I hope this helps.

Look for Corsair.
I've heard of this route via Mauritius too, that is reportedly cheaper.

The best rates are with Air madagascar. Check the e-mail adress given by one readers, in paris and make a request. please note that if you travel with Air madagascar on international flight, you will have a 50 per cent discount on domestic flight.
Corsair is also cheap. But getting a seat is somehow difficult as they their give priority to those buying a package with their Tour operator Branch. Last is Air Austral. it leaves Marseille France to St Denis La Reunion before going to Madagascar. Any other flight beside those 03 above mentionned would much more expensive!!! Lemur Boy
