Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Karachi place to rest at Karachi airport outside immigration ?
Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 08:04 AM UTC
Hello,
I have about 6 hours at Karachi airport,
to change from domestic flight to international.
It is a bit long time to sit and wait,
but short to spend the money for one night in the hotel.
I think airlines don't do check in 6 hours before departure time,
it means I can't go into airport through immigration.
Are there cafe or net-cafe or restaurant
outside the entrance of airport to sit and wait ?
Or any hotel to offer short stay per hour ?

I would appreciate your help !

Well, There is a McDonald's just in the parking area. You can sit & relax there. There is also a fine restaurant on 7th floor of Airport building. You can take tea/coffee there and then you can sit/relax. I think they have net cafe service there.
Also there is a restaurant on 3rd floor. There is also a visitors gallery from where you can watch both domestic/international lounges from top and also watch runway.

(Note lifts for 7th/3rd floor restaurants are seperate from VISITORS GALLERY LIFT.)

Hotel Midway House is close to the airport (5 minutes by taxi and they do have shuttle service as well) around Rs.2000 for short stay up to 6 hours.

Boarding starts around 3 hours before flight. There are few shops serving tea/snacks on departure level both sides i.e. International and Domestic. Its a busy place and not hard to kill the waiting time.

Hi,thank you so much for your reply.
everybody's very helpful.

Thank you, Bokhari76.
Yes, yes, the memory came up to my mind
there is Mcdonald just in front,
and that's good there are 2 restaurants in airport building.
It sounds 7th floor restaurant is more formal and hi-class one ?
and 3rd floor more casual ?
Visitors gallery is, located inside the building and can sit?
or on roof ?
I would be happy if you have time to reply me again.

Thank you, explore discover.
So still Midway house is there.
it is good to stay there if i am tired.
I've come to Karachi (airport) sometime,
but always just go and in and don't stay there long hours.
So didn't see these shops in international and domestic level.
Thank you so much.

If my memory serves me right the restaurant on the seventh floor is simple ( hard tables and chairs ) and cheap which is normally frequented by airport staff. The one on the third floor is more cozy and offer good choices for food to snacks. Here you can relax, eat and watch in/out flights. A little more expensive than the other. Good place to kill time.
As a Karachian wish you pleasant stay.

Yes, I am proud to be a Karachian ( last 58 yrs). My wife informs me to convey places of shopping at Tariq Road (Middle rates) Hyderi ( same items cheaper), Clifton ( most expensive). There are so many flyovers, bridges, underpasses, express ways in operation that even we have to careful not to take wrong turn. More are under construction. To give an example traveing from Sohrab Got ( Zero Point of Super Highway) to a point leading to Port is about 15 Km through city May take an hour long driving. The same is covered in 15 min using Liyari Express way. Happy visit.

There is nothing like a private toilet with hot shower after a long flight. Even though I might feel exhausted, the ability to clean my body inside and out makes me feel totally refreshed.

For me, it would be torture to sit in a McDonalds or any other restaurant. I want a hot shower !!

The hotel nearby is cheap and sounds like the best option. You do not have to arrive 3 hours before a domestic flight. One hour is enough.
