| Ko Phi Phi Don | Is it worth going to Phi Phi/Krabi area in June/July? Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 02:15 AM UTC
I'm going to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia June 16-July 17. I've always wanted to go to the southern areas, specifically Raileh beach, Phi Phi area, but I'm getting the impression that weather will be bad and boat travel will be unavailable. Can anyone offer advice? Thanks!

Wet Weather Season - Phi Phi Island has a wet season from June through September but don't be frightened away from this season because you will find more sun than rain. The wet weather season seems to scare some visitors but those who do go to Phi Phi Island often say that it was glorious and they did not experience nearly the wet weather that they expected. If you can plan your Phi Phi Island holiday during this period you should not hesitate.

I would recommend a trip to Phi phi, I travelled in the rainy season and when it rained it threw it down but didn't last all day, usually it was fine till around 2pm then rained for 2-3 hours. sometimes again in the evening. I read in all the guide books before we went that the ferries don't go in bad weather but after our return trip to phuket I don't believe that atall they are fearless and travel regardless. The sea was extremely choppy and waves crashing up the side of the boat water was coming in the windows that didn't shut properly so people were holding them closed. Passengers were putting there life jackets on and having to lie down to stop themselves being sick, the crew handed sick bags out and I would say quite a few of the passengers were sick. Quite a scary travel experience but the island really is picturesque it was the highlight of our holiday in Thailand and we travelled to Ko Samui, Krabi, Phuket and Bangkok.
