Am I to assume from reading one of the other entries that there is not any public transportation connecting Amtrak service in northern Montana with destinations in Alberta, Canada? I had high hopes of taking the train from Maine to Montana and then connecting by bus or wagontrain??? to Canada...

Via Rail cancelled service to Calgary years ago. You'll probably have to take the bus.

As far as I know, the only connections between Amtrak and the Canadian rail system are in the east (Quebec-Ontario regions). You would have to bus between Montana (Great Falls or Helena I guess) and Calgary. Good luck!

Airporter Shuttle Express of Calgary does operate a "charter van" service from many destinations in East Glacier to Calgary. They list their service as well as other ways thru the following link:
