| Milan | Milan August 2008 Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 03:28 PM UTC
Hi,
I have booked a hen weekend in Milan from the 29th August to 1st September. It wasnt until after we had booked that i read somewhere that Milan is deserted in August as everyone heads to the lakes, is this true??!! Please tell me there will be shops and bars etc still open as i am dreading telling the bride to be! Thanks :-) |

Hi,
in the past years really Milano in middle august was like a dead city. Now you are talking about a metropolitan legend. Big shops and a lot of boutique are open, the pubs and restaurant too, expecially on navigli district and near Duopmo Square. Giorgio

Hi,
as Giorgio said in the last years the situation of Milan in August is better. Anyway the last week of August return to be a working week for most people so you will find everything (or quite) open. The commercial activities that will close, usually choose the middle weeks. Bye roberta

Thank you for your replies, i feel much better now!!
Is there anything you would recommend to see, is it worth taking a trip to the lakes, if so do you know how much/how long it takes to get there?! Also (sorry for all the questions!) my Nona comes from Mali Losinj and i was wondering if i stayed an extra few days if it is possible to get there from Milan? Thanks in advance, Rachael
