We are visiting Bergamo next week and really looking foreward to visiting such a beautiful place. My son has to stay 1 day longer than the rest of us and needs to stay for 1 night in a inexpensive hotel in Bergamo. Not at all bothered about facilities just clean. He will be catching a train in the morning so if near station would be a bonus.
Any suggestions?

There is one place that comes to mind, known as the hotel San Giorgio, 400 metres from the station. They do have a website : www.sangiorgioalbergo.it/ and the rates for a single room are aruond 55 Euros poer night.
That said, I investigated further and have found that on www.venere.com you can book a single room, on line for 40 Euros if you do so within 48 hours.

I have the same suggestion Dominique! I stayed at Hotel San Giorgio some time ago. I wrote a mail to their mail address (see their web site) and I could book my room without credit card details. The place is simple and I paid 35 euro for a single with basin, but no shower inside the room. The hotel is not far from the train station.

We have used Hotel Piemontese 3 times for its proximity to the train station which is directly across the the road. I would probably class it as a commercial hotel, but we found the rooms comfortable, breakfast adequete and the staff friendly and multilingual.

"Antica Brianza" non so far.
