Málaga Day Trip from Malaga City - Mijas - Ronda - Gibraltar
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 11:34 AM UTC
Hi All

Does anyone know where I can get a bus from Malaga City on Thursday 10th April ( Can you point me in the direction of any online timetables ) that will allow me to spend a little time in Mijas, Ronda and finally Gib. I dont have to worry about returning to Malaga as will be staying in Gibraltar that night. I would like to leave as early as possible to spend us much time as possible in these villages but get into Gibraltar by 6 - 7 pm. It would also be nice to know where to get get of and on the buses again in Mijas & Ronda ? Any help appreciated as always..cheers :-)

Thanks
Patienceman

if you can, try the train down from Ronda to Algeciras. It stops at San Roque which is the nearest point to Gibraltar. But I am not sure if there is any public transport to La Linea which is the Spanish town you head for. Certainly from Algeciras there is a bus from the San bernado bus station opposite the staion. It goes around the bay to la Linea. Look on www.tgcomes.es for Algeciras to La Linea.

The timetables might be fine, but what they won’t tell you how beautiful Rhonda is.
Rhonda is a lovely place to visit and I don’t think you will do it any justice just visiting for a few hours.
I don’t know what Mijas is like.
Either way, enjoy your stay.

Puerto Lover has given a good idea, use the train from Ronda to Algeciras, I have been told is very scenic. I would give the stop at Estacion de San Roque a miss, because to get to a bus heading towards Gib you would have to walk a bit and not knowing where you are going. The bus station in Algeciras is just opposite the train station and is much easier.

Mijas, you`ll know when you are there because everyone gets off and the bus has a wee rest after coming up the hill. The bus to Mijas can be very busy, have a bottle of water with you. (Usually less busy going back, strange but true!)
There is a bus station at Ronda but it`s about a 10 minute walk to the Bull ring and the bridge to the old town. You`ll like it!
