Stockholm Cost of living
Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 06:57 PM UTC
Hi
I've heard that Stockholm is still horrendously expensive compared to many European cities. What will shock me most? The price of a beer, a coffee, a meal, a hotel, transport?
Any advice will be welcome.
Oh yeah, I plan to buy a few CDs there too of Swedish bands I like, what do CDs cost?

I really can't help with the other questions but I think CDs are cheap. You can look at www.cdon.com or www.ginza.se and check out the prices. If you want to buy the tickets at a shop, then www.megastore.se is the one I can recommend.

Since you are British I compare with London prices.
Hotel, about the same but better value for money here.
Eating out, cheaper
Drinking in a pub or bar, more expensive, pint of quality beer ca 5GBP, spirits really expensive.
Groceries in a supermarket, same or cheaper.

And the GBP/SEK rate in not to your favour right now, but its time for me to plan a trip to England soon!

Hi,

Hope I'm not too late in giving you some advice.
Just got back from Stockholm and I must say I was shocked with the price of the drinks,I remember paying on avarege £7 to £8 pounds for a single whisky and coke
and a pint of beer it's about 5 pounds, food, I thought was cheap and no matter what you do, don't use taxis as they mega expensive.
The Ice bar is fantastic, must see also found a fantastic Irish pub(Anchor) great crowed and if you like rock bands they have good ones every weekend.
