| Pulau Langkawi | A good spot on Langkawi Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 06:30 PM UTC
Hi.
Can't really make up my mind about where to stay on Langkawi. I would like a good beach, preferably with good snorkeling. It would be good if there was some kind of town or village close by as I don't like paying hotel prices for food. Thanks for the help. Andrew |

hi
Pantai Cenang is the best place to stay on the Langkawi Island with the most beautifuk beach with white fine sand on the island and enough restaurants around to feed the people in all budgets Snorkelling is not the thing on the island as doesn't matter which part of the island you are the agencies that you make your booking through would take you on 1,5 hours trip for snorkeling there are many chinese seafood restaurants in Pantai Cenang but if you are looking for cheap local food i could recommend you 'Tomato' 100 meters from the underwater world to north which is a ala cart restaurant that a portion would cost around 2 USD where you can choose from at least 10 kinds of local and Indian food plus some special dishes surely would cost more but not in comparison with those expensive western or chinese restaurants If you re backpacking i can recommend you to stay at 'Gecko' guest house which is the only and the cheapest backpacker place on the island just ask for Melati Tnjung hotel and walk opposite direction from the beach to the unstable sideroad take the first left pass the Mesjid(little mosque) and you there , rooms for 7-8 USD keep in mind that Langkawi is a duty free island so you don't need worry about the prices of the drinks and cigarettes enjoy your trip
