Electricity is 240V, with three points plug, type UK. I bought a couple of devices there, and they all came with two different wires and plugs: local and European. My hotel supplied multi-adapter, and I think that, generally, they all do the same.

You might wish to take a look at the folowing web site: www.kropla.com/electric.htm. Many hotels furnish small appliances for their guests such as hairdryers, irons, etc. Gary

The European type plugs do not work in Dubai as there is a long earth that opens a little "gate" within the socket. If you have a narrow 2 pin plug you may be able to get it into the socket by pushing room key into where the earth is (make sure power is off) and then put 2 pin plug in, withdraw room key and then turn on - or as previous poster said, get an adaptor from hotel reception - which is what we ended up doing after my wife said key trick was dangerous - women don't seem to have a sense of humour - LOL

Yes, the sockets are UK three vertical pin type. Most of the appliances sold here are two pin though, so plenty of adaptors are available in the shops.

As told hotels do provide adaptors for their guests, however if you live in a private place adaptor should be arranged!! The voltage is 220-240

Yep, as all have said: it's the same pin as in the UK.
Most of my appliances have 2-pin "European" plugs, so I use loads of small adaptors which are available in any supermarket.
