From Chennai, take the train "Mangalore Mail" and get off at the destination Mangalore.
From Mangalore take a bus or a private taxi to reach Mookambika temple. You can stay in the temple premises called choultries.Suggest you to write to the Temple Devasthanam authorities in advance.Ofcourse you can stay at any hotel in Mangalore also.
