Hi, although Hanover has a few points of interest, it is certainly not in the first line of sightseeing places. In general, avoid big cities in Germany, except Munich, which is great. The smaller cities provide you a great picture of life, history, and architecture. Here some of my favorites, Rothenburg o.T., Dinkelsbuehl, Fuessen, Passau, Salzburg (in Austria), Bamberg, Lueneburg, and many more. Take the train to Cologne, but be careful to select the Rhine route through Mainz, Koblenz, and go from Cologne East to Hanover, if it is important to you. And from Hanover another 1 hour train ride to Lueneburg, and from there to Hamburg.
Have fun, Vern

One more on the mobile phone subject. All very simple in Germany. Go to the coffee shop chain Tchibo www.tchibo.de , similar to Starbucks, they sell sim cards for Euro 9.95 plus prepaid cards. Similar prices to be found at Aldi (food discounter) and other places, where you wouldn't expect such things being sold. Just look around, you stumble over them everywhere!
