| Beijing | Sightseeing via Subway Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 10:02 AM UTC
Hello everybody,
I am currently in Beijing and would like to do some sight-seeing. Although taxis are quiet cheap, I am already annoyed of being stuck in the traffic most of the times, and it's always nice to save a couple of RMB. Since the bus system is almost impossible to understand (at least for me), I would like to do a little bit of sight-seeing by using the subway. But for this, I need your help. Maybe we can put together a list with some tourist sights or Olympic places ("Birdnest" Stadium, new Swimming Stadium) and which subway station is close to it. Which is the closest subway station from the Lufthansa Center (Kempinski or Sheraton Hotel?). When are the "new" lines supposed to open. Thanks everyone for their input!!! |

johnandlynclarke: yes, Yong'anli is correct.
ellyse mentioned most of the important ones. The drum and bell towers is located close to the Guloudajie station. Just acouple of hundred meters/yards south. You've probably allready found it but for info about the new subway lines i would suggest wikipedias page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beijing_subway

Speaking of Guomao subway, isn't that the stop for the WalMart at Wanda Plaza, too?

Nearest metro stops for Walmart Wanda are Guomao as well as Dawanglu.

Thanks Ellyse, you are terrific. Hopefully, other readers will find the sightseeing by subway helpful, too. I am putting together a list and studying the maps.

I would suggest Ciqikou or Tiantan East, on line 5.
