I want to do a bit of shopping whilst in singapore but i was wondering if i can use Australian dollars there ?
Do they accept all currency or would it be better getting it exchanged for singapore dollars ??
oh and has anyone bought a mobile phone there before? My partner wants an iphone but i dont want to get it home and not work??

Either use your credit card or change the A$ into Sin$ at a money exchange. The traders won't give you a good rate if you give them A$.

Em, I've just seen you're from the UK so that means you'll be starting with £ Sterling. (You asked about Aussie$, so I assumed you were starting with those). Each time you change money you lose a bit on commission, so don't change £ into Aussie$ and then those into Sin$. Change some pounds directly into Sin$

Oh ok cool, it was just a friend mentioned that they take Aus$. I will do that then, its only incase on my return journey from Aus i have lots of Aus$ left.... if you know what i mean??

OK, that's slightly different. If you have Aussie$ left over you may as well change them into Sin$ and spend them when you're in S'pore. There's plenty to buy!

Yes think i will probably just do that then. I have been given money from people to spend over there so i will just change my sterling to Singapore$ before i go

Official iPhones are not available in Singapore as none of the carriers in Singapore agrees to Apple's revenue sharing model. Apple also requires SIM locking for iPhone, which is illegal for any of the carriers in Singapore to do. There are hacked and unlocked iPhones, but Apple is clamping down on that.

You can take Aussie dollars with you.....but you have to change into Singapore dollars. We found that maoney changers at the big shopping centres on Orchard Road provide good exchange rates. Better than the banks.
