| San Francisco | Alcatraz night tour in May (different times??) Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 08:02 AM UTC
Hi,
I would like to book a trip to visit Alcatraz in May but i realised that there isn't any 4.40pm departure time to Alcatraz in May? There is 3.55pm and also 6+pm which are the closest. May i ask if i book the 3.55pm departure time, what is the latest time i must leave Alcatraz Island? and if i book the 6+pm ferry, what is the latest time i have to leave Alcatraz Island? If i book the 6+pm tour, will there still be sunlight when i reach Alcatraz? or will it already be dark? Does anyone know why there isn't any 4.40pm tours for alcatraz during this period? I am from Asia. |

hello
i 've done it there 10 years ago ans i think you should take the 3h55PM because the round trip is a little bite long and if you don't want to be there in fog you should go in alcatraz in the warm hour of the day.. SEE YOU Kris

hi,
but if i go for the 3.55pm trip, am i entitled to the night trip? cuz at the website, the 3.55pm trip is actually considered as the day tour as the price is the same. i'm sorry but i'm from asia and we don't have daylight savings here, i don't understand how it works. so does it mean to say that in the month of may, there isn't 4.40pm night tour to alcatraz and there is 6pm night tour instead and this is due to daylight savings? so is the 6.55pm equivalent to the 4.55pm tour in fact? really confused about this, pls advise, thanks so much.

I'm not sure which website you are looking at for your Alcatraz tour. But if you go to www.alcatrazcruises.com, they have a night tour for 2.5hours and on such tours, you embark and return on the same ship and I assume that there will be a guide on board to lead the way. No need to worry about whether you will be able to catch a boat at a certain time or not.
For myself, I only did the harbor cruise tour many years ago and did not get down to the island. As one VTer remarked here, it's just another tourist "trap."
