We are leaving for Kanchanaburi shortly and are finding it difficult to get transport to the hotel from the airport. Can anyone give some good suggestions on how long, how much and where to pick up transport to Kanchanaburi? I hear there is a tesco lotus there, any good?

You can ask your hotel to arrange it, or check the rates for the Airport limo service (AOT), there's a desk in the arrival baggage hall.

hi travelmust
to an extent it would depend on how you would like to commute to kanchanaburi. train, bus ( south station ) and taxi services are available, the taxi costing about THB2500.00 each way. if you are travelling line and time is of no essence the airconditioned bus (abt 100THB) would possibly be th ebest option. services are frequent at fifteen minute interval and the faster buses make the journey in about two hours. musaphir

I am not sure what you are asking for.
Are you asking for a ride from the Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airport direct to Kanchanaburi? Or, are you asking for a ride from the BKK airport to a hotel in downtown Bangkok? Or are you looking for transportation from some other airport? The best way and cheapest way to get to Kanchanaburi, my opinion, is to spend the night or two in Bangkok and pay for a bus or train from there to that area. Don't blow Bangkok off, Bangkok is worth a looksee! River Kwai tours are pretty common from Bangkok, there are day tours and overnighters. But you can go to that area on your own if you want. http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm What airport? From that airport to where? At the Suvarnabhumi airport there are several ways to get into town. There is a meter taxi of course, there is the Airport Express Bus and a cheap bus from the little bus station at the airport. You have to get a shuttle bus to get to the bus station at the airport. The other transportation services leave form the terminal. There are some long distance buses that leave from the little bus station too! Good luck.
