| Krakow | Is it possible to buy online a train ticket Krakow-Vienna? Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 01:58 AM UTC
I tried many times on the polish rail company, but the website went wrong.
(informacja ce biletu normalnego, or something like that, when I asked the price (fare) of the ticket). Anyone knows if it is possible to buy it online, or at least reserve it? And anybody has an idea of how much it costs? Thanks a lot. carlos andrade - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil |

Hi Carlos
I've tried to buy this same ticket on line before and there always seems to be difficult. I travel this route frequently. I live in Krakow and my girlfriend lives in Vienna - more than likly will be taking it again this weekend. The best way I do it is to purchase the ticket a day or two before leaving. I have however purchased this minutes before departure. I don't know when you are planning travelling but in the winter months the train has ample reserved seats available. There are two trains that depart daily. One at 7:00 and a night train at 22:25. I prefer the morning train. The train does separate a bit south of Ostrava (half continues to Prague) so make sure you're in your carraige at this time. A one way fare is 110 pln or double that if you want a return. If you purchase a return in Vienna the price is 54 Euro (around 185 pln) so it is better to buy a confirmed return in Krakow if this is your plan. Also from Vienna you can purchase a Bratislava return on the same day for 14 Euro. This also includes trams and buses for the entire day - well worth it as Bratislava has great inexpensive restaurants and ample cheap booze - plus it's rather quaint. They've done a fantastic job recently repaving the roads with old looking cobblestone. When are you arriving in Krakow? Please have a great trip. P
