The Vatican has its own Post Office.

Stand in front of St Peter's basilica, within the encircling columns, and the office is tucked away on your left. You can buy stamps and post cards, letters etc there but there will be queues, so allow yourself plenty of time to do so.

and dont expect to get your change in Vatican-euro-coins when you pay with larger bills! They actually just SELL each and every Vatican-coin for higher prices, euro coins and the old Vatican-lire-coins as well

There's another post office at the Vatican museum at the top of the giant spiral staircase that goes down to the museum's exit.

If you want collector-type stamps, you have to go to the post office inside the museum. The one just outside the collonade at St. Peters does not have that many different stamps.
