| Manila | Hotel Recommendations Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 08:21 PM UTC
Evening All,
I and a few friends are coming to the Philippines in July and will be spending a couple of nights in Manila. Can anyone please recommend a decent hotel in a lively part of the city? Cheers, Chumbles |

well it depends in which city in Manila you want to stay. There is Makati, Ortigas or in the city of Manila itself. 13 cities ( think ;)) comprises Manila

I have probably stayed at about a dozen hotels in Manila in the past 4 yars or so. Makati is prpbably the most exciting part of the area. Depends on your budget...if your budget is low end then I would suggest a place like the Oxford Suites which is quite nice for the price you pay. It's smack right in the middle of the red light district so if you are travelling with a family I guess this might not be a good idea! haha. Otherise, if your budget can include a $200 a night hotel then I would suggest the most glamorous hotel which is the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Depends on your budget. Here's a tip...the cheapest rates for Manila can be found on asiatravel.com. I book all my trips around asia on that website. Hope that helps!

Try the City Garden in Makati, I have stayed there seven or eight times with my wife and it great. they have a nice swimming pool on the roof and its smack in the middle of Manila. Great resturants nearby, try the noodle shop opposite. very nice food and cheap as chips :-) the food in the hotel is great as well, but be adventureous and try all the local resturants.
hope this helps. Danny
