First, which airport are you arriving at? Fiumicino or Ciampino?

Second, the last train solution from Rome to Bari that's not an overnight ride, leaves Roma Termini at 17:16 and arrives in Bari at 22:48. If you arrive at Fiumicino, you should be able to buy the ticket all the way to Bari at the train station at the airport. Do not delay, though, as you will not have a lot of extra time to make this trip and connection at Termini.

If you arrive at Ciampino, you can take the bus to Termini or a bus or taxi to Anagnina Metro station or whatever, but what you might do is take a taxi over to Ciampino railway station, where you will buy your tickets all the way to Bari (the process will be much simpler at Ciampino railway station than at Termini, just because of the crowds). There are 2 trains from Ciampino that you might take to meet the 17:16 train from Termini to Bari: one leaves Ciampino at 16:31 and the other leaves at 16:43. Once at Termini, haul yourself directly to the track for the train to Bari (there will be plenty of signs).

Note that the train from Rome to Bari is a Eurostar. You must have a reservation to get on the train. Normally, if there are empty seats, you can buy a reservation at the last minute; however, there is a small chance that the train will be full.

If you miss this train, stow your luggage at the Left Luggage ('Deposito Bagagli') at Termini for a few hours, go and buy a ticket on the overnight train that leaves Termini at 23:58 (arrives in Bari at 06:35), then spend a few hours wandering around Rome (there will be plenty of people up and around). Note that this train will have a choice of seats, couchettes, and sleeping compartments, depending on what is available.

All of this can be found at the official rail website at www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html .

Why don't you take another airplane from Rome to Bari,by AirOne or Alitalia?!?

About the train solution,I subscribe the reply by mcalpin.
The bus from Rome to Bari depart from Tiburtina RailStation, but it seems that the only possible option for you is the bus by Marozzi at 24.00

See http://www.adr.it/content.asp?L=3&IdMen=731
which is the airport's website.

The most straightforward process would be to go to the train station at the airport and take the Leonardo Express train to Termini (11 euro). In fact, you should be able to buy your ticket all the way to Bari while still at the airport.

A taxi should be a fixed fare of 40 euro...but depending on how long you have to wait for the train (every 30 minutes), the train will be just as fast and much cheaper...
