Nice Travel Forum

Hi all!

I will be going to Nice on the 22nd of April, and staying for 3 days. For that short time, will it be possible to visit Cannes and Monaco too? What places should I not miss while there? I have heard that the South of France is extra gorgeous during April.


Also, do you have suggestions as to where to stay in Nice?

I visited both Nice and Monaco last month. I only stayed for two days, and on the second day took the train from Nice to Monaco. It was a trip of about 30 to 40 minutes. We did not have the extra day to visit Cannes, but you could take the train there for the day. You can see Monaco in five or six hours, some would say less! But certainly worth the visit.

Forgot to add that I stayed at the very central and reasonably priced Regence at 21 Rue Massena. The receptionist will, as she did with me, be able to direct you to the railway booking office that is a five minute walk from the hotel. You can pre purchase your rail tickets from this office....no need to go to the station to get them.

we did the same thing in 2005. We staying in Nice did the day trip to Monaco then Cannes. Most of the train ride is along the coast which leads to fantastic views.

It is a lovely walk around the harbour front of Monaco and up to the Casino. Also try to get up the the palace. There is a very cheap bus ride up or walk if you're fit. The view is spectacular over the harbour and there are also some lovely restaurants/ cafes to enjoy lunch.

In Cannes, we sat along the beach front in the shade and watched the world go by. We walked around the Marina and stopped to watch the older men playing bocce.

We'll be back in September staying in Antibes this time.
