| Berlin | Whatīs new or not to miss April 26īth to April 29īth? Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 08:26 AM UTC
Hi all you Berlin Culture Nerds!
Would you please tell me whatīs not to miss in Berlin during April 26īth to April 29īth? Sometimes it is difficult to see from event guides if a thing is worth while or not. I know gallery Sparwasser has finissage the 27īth and that the Berlin Biennale is on. I am interested in art (mostly contemporary), art lectures, arcitecture, music, clubs, dance and dancing, fashion... Well, you know. Happy spring! /Karin |

Karin, perhaps Hamburger Bahnhof would be a place for you to be as far as contemporary arts is concerned, especially the "Reset" exihition with works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Anselm Kiefer, Joseph Beuys and others.
http://www.hamburgerbahnhof.de Fashion: The area around Hackesche Höfe. Music, clubs & dance: specify please. The boroughs Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichhain host quite a number of clubs.

Hi,
Thanks! Hamburger Bahnhof was a great tip! I will absolutely go there. I canīt specify my aims when it comes to music and clubs, my taste range is so broad that it runs the risk of not existing :-) Best! /Karin

What will happen when Helsinki kisses Berlin is that snow will fall in Berlin and taxi driviers in Helsinki turn rude. ;-)
Here's the agenda page 1 out of 26, so it's a bit too much to tranlate it, as it's unfortunately in German only. http://www.helsinkissberlin.de/events/category/alle/ The second link should read http://www.smb.spk-berlin.de/

Oh my, it looks like a deep finnish kiss. The Finns (suomalaiset) are usually great fun to hang around with so līll be happy if theyīre still there when I get to Berlin. Many thanks for new link and translation and all!

May I just chip in with a suggestion for my personal favourite, the Martin Gropius Bau. This web link gives details of what is on (on the 27th)
http://www.berlinerfestspiele.de/de/aktuell/festiv As I've said before in the forum, this is just a fantastic building which deserves to be visited just for it intrinsic architectural merit. I'm not sure what appeal that exhibition on the cultural links between Berlin and St Petersburg would have to a Swede, but the Dani Karavan retrospective seems interesting. Regards, James.

<<<exhibition on the cultural links between Berlin and St Petersburg>>>
I`ve been there, extremely interesting for me personally, because I travelled to St. Petersburg last year, but Karin wants to see contemporary art... Karavan could be more in her favourite style.

How could I forget? They almost always have an exhibition that's worth to be seen.

Ah, I just stated the Guggenheim because other museums are closed monday, and she will be in Berlin on a monday, Guggenheim takes no fee, so it fits perfectly.
The exhibitions there are normally very good, but it's rather small, so it's not worth the 4 euro, you're absolutely right.

Thankīs all for tips! I think I might pass by Guggenheim on Monday, though small. Also small things can be good. :-) I have got other tips: Hamburger Bahnof and KunstWerke. And some galleries I will check out are Neugerriemschneider, Neu och Schipper & Krome, c/o (hejja Norge!), Chokari Brahms, Klosterfelde and Nordenhake (heja Sverige!). May be something for other contemporary art-interested to check out as well. I will tell ya later on my page what of all this I actually managed to see. Sometimes ambitions are greater before the sun shines and you rather have a beer in the sun. Cheers!
