| Ko Samui | Beachside Accomodation Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 06:28 AM UTC
Hi
There will be 4 of us heading to Samui in the beging of October. We are wanting to stay right on the beach - we would love to imagine ourselves in just meters from the water. We are on a budget however....anyone have any ideas? or is there maybe an Island near by that would be cheaper to stay at? Thanks Deany x |

Check out Koh Phangan better than Samui for budget travellers especially when there is no "Full Moon" Party.

hi there i have been to samui twice in last three years i think months were nov and feb.oct should be the start of season so should be even better.we had no problem finding beach bungalows in the us$12 dollar range especially in lamai.that was for a wooden bungalow basic but metres away from the water.luxury bungalows with sat tv a/c etc but not on beach were about$25.
suggest you have the first night booked if yre arriving late, and then shop around.also try the beaches in north bo phut etc.enjoy

The island options in the Samui area are Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and of course Koh Samui itself. You can find inexpensive accommodations on all of these three islands, especially if you book online in advance. Walk-in prices are significantly higher in all but a few of the smallest establishments. If you are flying in to Samui, then you need to also consider your travel arrangements to the other islands, which will be an additional expense of at least 10 USD per person each way, and may not be available on the day you fly in, so you may have to spend a night on Samui regardless. In that case, you may wish to think about a resort near the ferry.
A good inexpensive choice on the beach in beautiful Maenam is Hutcha Resort. It is also in close proximity to Lompraya Ferry Pier (to/from Phangan and Tao). Last time I went SamuiIslandHotels.com arranged it for me - hotel, airport pickup, ferry trip, etc. http://www.samuiislandhotels.com/index.php?module= I hope it works out for you. Have a great trip!
