Definitely pre-book. Thats high season, and the good value (decent price, good quality) places fill up first.

Agre entirely. Scots schools break up earlier than English, and the latter break up in mid-July. It's also the busiest time for overseas visitors.

It would be a good idea to start looking (and booking) pretty soon if you want the widest range of options.

Couldnt agree more with all the above. June and July is not the time to chance when it comes to accomodation in the scottish highlands. It is peak tourist season and you should probably start looking into B&Bs and hotels as soon as possible.

Some good sites online are:

Have a great trip!

The local Tourist Information office can usually find you something at the last minute, but it's not likely to be good at that time of year - everything is booked up.

When you include the fact that the Tourist Information centres often close at 5pm, you may end up spending your evenings trailing from door to door looking for somewhere to stay.

I'd definitely book in advance.
