| Salzburg | Accomodation for EURO 2008 Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 01:56 AM UTC
Hello!
I will be going to Salzburg as a volunteer for the EURO 2008 (around 9-20th June). I am really excited but all accomdation is booked out during this time. Can anyone suggest any accomodation in the city? I know it might be a long shot, but a local website which would list room rentals for a couple of weeks would be ideal. Thanks! |

If you don't mind hostels, you might wish to go to: www.hostelworld.com. You might also try some of the smaller cities near Salzburg, in both Germany, and Austria, that have rail and/or bus connections, such as Bad Reichenal, or Bertchesgaden. Even some of the small towns on the main rail line towards Munich might be an option. Also, you can check to see if there are "waiting lists" for the hotels in Salzburg. Not everyone's team will be playing in the later fixtures, so I'm sure lodging will start to open up as the tournament progresses. Gary

Before I forget, If you stay in Germany, you might ask in the forum about railpasses which are good all the way to Salzburg. For Salzburg itself, you might want to see if there are passes available for multiple trips on the city tranport systems. Gary

Hi
Don't know if it would help but try looking in: http://www.salzburg.com/tourismus/ I would have a look at the surrounding area as well. Start somewhere closer such as Groedig ( http://www.groedig.net/en-index.shtml ), Hof bei Salzburg, Ebenau and even out to the Lakes district (Salzkammergut). If you google these places (or google earth other locations) you will come up with the local tourist office who may help. I'm surprised the organizers of the event have not provided for this contingency! Good luck John

There is a great hostel which serves a great buffet breakfast, located well north of the city center, but on the bus lines. Excellent value. See the accomodations section of my Salzburg page for details and a booking link. Have a great stay in Salzburg.
