| Province of Cebu | Public transport from airport / Cheap hotels Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 12:00 AM UTC
Apart from taxis, are there any buses, jeepneys etc. that I can take from Cebu Airport to Cebu City?
Also, any suggestion for very cheap hotels (under 2000php) in Cebu City and Talisay City? Thanks in advance. Simon |

I have never even thought about taking a jeepney from the airport so have never looked. I have to say that in 13 years of using the airport, I haven't seen a jeepney there. If there was a jeepney, you would have to change several times anyway so may not think it is worthwhile with luggage.
Your profile says you are from the UK. I don't believe the taxi prices are going to bother you anyway. As you exit the terminal, there will be vendors pestering you to use a hire car to take you into Cebu City. The current price is the eqivalent of about GBP £4 If you want a taxi using a meter, cross the road as you exit the terminal. There will be a gate in the the right hand end of the fence in front of you. Go through the gate up the stairs and there will be taxis in the departure area. Airport to the centre of Cebu City should be about the equivalent of GBP £2, depending on traffic. In Cebu City, here are a couple of suggestions for reasonable quality accommodation, on a budget. Both have swimming pools. http://www.mangoparkhotel.com/roomtype.htm http://www.in-cebu.com/metropark/rates.php In Talisay City, the only hotel I am aware of is http://www.touristseasideresort.com/rates.htm however, I see the lowest rate is usd $30 per night. For that price, I hope the place looks like the pictures because the last time I was there a few years ago, it was very run down. There are 3 other accommodation options in and near Talisay City. They are the swimming pool complexes of Aqua Cainta, Villa Terisita and Tubod flowing waters. Most people go to these places for the day to have a picnic and go swimming. The only website I have for these is Tubod Flowing waters. http://www.geocities.com/aike75/shem.htm last time I was at Aqua Cainta, a couple of years ago, it was only about P1,000 per night. Let me know what other questions you have by writing to me at sibbick61@yahoo.com.au Regards: Jim Sibbick

If you are street smart and doesnt mind the inconveience, from the mactan airport, you need 2 rides to use the normal public transportation. from the arrrival area go up the departure area, cross the road and follow the driveway for parking inside waterfront hotel and go to the other end of that driveway. there you will see tricycles waiting for passengers. get into it and negotiate the price for the trip to the epza jeepney terminal for cebu city about 5kms away. They have 2 rates, one is if you want pakyaw (only yourself as a passenger) or per person where you wait until the tricycle is full(about 5 passengers, He He !!).
when you get to the terminal, look for the jeepneys going to cebu city directly. there are other routes starting from that terminal so be sure to ask for the right one. During daytime they pack the passengers in, so it will be tight and hot inside. This is the normal way the employees of the airport take going from the airport. However if you have heavy baggages then better take the taxi. I used to do this before even when my arrival was at 1 am or dawn. but I dont carry heavy baggages with me and also I know cebu very well. I also tried taking the ferry boat from cebu pier 3 to lapu lapu, and then take the tricycle to the airport on a pakyaw basis. This saves you a lot of time and you get a fresh sea breeze and fine salt spray as a bonus. bong
