| Buenos Aires | Sporting Events? Posted: Fri March 28, 2008 06:00 PM UTC
6 more days & I will be there!!
I would LOVE to take in some sporting events while I'm in Buenos Aires. Futbol is my first choice, but I enjoy then all! What would be a top event to see & how do I get tickets? I will be there from the 3rd until...the 10th? The same goes for Uruguay. I will follow BsAs w/ 3 weeks in UY. I would also like some ideas for a coffee spot in Palermo Soho on Sat. the 5th about 10 a.m.(see meetings) I'd love to meet up w/ some of you local & not so local VT'ers! Any ideas?? Hope to see you & thanks ahead of time for the tips. "Goneto" |

For Futbal(football, soccer) I've used a guide service. The one I used is www.gofootball.com.ar, but there are several others that operate identical services. They will pick you up, escort you and then drop you off after the game. I used this service 3 times and have been very satisfied with them each time. You want more info, I have 3 tips concerning football in Argentina.
I've also attended 1 game without using a service, but went with an Argentine friend. I do not recommend doing this unless you go with a local.

This is one site where you can book tickets for Futbol. The price is higher but it includes transportation, guide and your seat. http://www.gofootball.com.ar/ They only post the available games the week prior so you will not be able to purchase your tickets for the first week of April until next week.
Other Deportes (sports) tickets you can find on http://www.ticketek.com.ar/ One place in Palermo that seems to attract travelers and ex pats is Mark's El Salvador 4701. Not really a coffee house per se but a nice place sit back. suerte Sam

3 weeks in Uruguay? Are you kidding? Uruguay can be pleasant, but is certainly in the top 3 of the world's most BBOORRIINNGG places. Bring lots to read in the language of your choice.
What Gertrude Stein said about Oakland, Calif., many years ago, can certainly apply to Uruguay, "There's no there, there" Bon Voyage
