There is a Greyhound route from Boston to Bridgeport, CT which is about 6 miles (or a 10 minute cab ride) from Trumbull. Journey is approximately 4 hours. www.greyhound.com
There is also an Amtrak line which takes you to Bridgeport in a little less than 3 hours. www.amtrak.com. There are several trains and buses which travel this route so just input your preferred departure date and time and you will get your requested bus number, route and train. Fares for both modes of travel are btwn 40 and 60 USD,depending on the departure time and fare type.
