Hello,

does anyone have tips for a holiday to Malta with our son of 1 1/2 year old ? Best beaches to go to ? Playgardens ? experience of stay at Le Meridien St Julians (playgarden at the hotel- food for kids)? Good restaurants with kids ?
Any advise on carrental ? we are considering to book a car only for a few days ? Best do it locally or rather in advance ?
We'll be travelling beginning of September.

Hi. Le Meridien St Julians is a pretty good choice - recent property, comfortable and very central. Best beaches are all in the North of Malta - nicest are Paradise Bay, Armier Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, Golden Sands & Mellieha Bay, so you'd definitely need to hire a car to get around although driving is on the left! Not much difference if you book this before you get there or after. September is usually a great time to go - still very warm and so is the sea. As for restaurants you will have a great choice as kids are accepted virtually everywhere in Malta. You might also want to try out Popeye's Village which is popular with kids also the Black Pearl Restaurant in Ta'Xbiex which is within an old pirates ship and a great attraction.

Malta has a good bus system. In fact buses go to almost everywhere there. Moreover tickets are cheap.

You 'd better reant a car if you decide to visit Gozo island. On that island the bus system is not as good as in Malta.
