| Tokyo | Shinagawa or Ikebukuro? Posted: Fri March 28, 2008 04:06 AM UTC
G'day - its me again. Thanks to everyone who gave great advice re my recent questions. I had just about decided to choose Shinagawa as our hotel location but have now heard that Ikebukuro might be better. Any opinions? How hard is it to get from Narita airport to Ikebukuro also?
Thanks in advance. |

I have stayed at Ikebukuro. It is a lively place day and night and centrally located.
From Narita, you can take the airport bus or train to Tokyo. Once in Tokyo, it is easy to take a subway or elevated train to anywhere in Tokyo. If unsure, you can always take a cab to your hotel from the closest station.

I think you would have better luck with Shinagawa. It may be slightly further from the airport, but the south Yamanote offers more to do for a tourist. Ikebukaro is considered a bit of a dead zone. Sure you have access south along the Yamanote to the West Side of Tokyo, but It's a long way to go to the East side. Shinagawa is conveniently in the middle. It isn't difficult to get anywhere in Japan from anywhere else, it's just a matter of time. Might I recommend "Friendly Limousine Bus Service"?
