| Dublin | itinerary Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 11:21 PM UTC
I was wondering if any one had copies of an itinerary of what they did in Dublin. I have been before, I usually just wonder around aimlessly. My brother will be with me this time and we are limited to 6 days. So, I thought maybe seeing a planed out itinerary or two may help me structure our stay.

Though I have no written itinerary, I always advised travelers to Dublin to avail themselves of a Hop-on/off tour first, as it will touch in the highlights of Dublin. Ride the whole circuit once over and then make your choices of which sites you want to explore and in what order. The tours will take you to all of the major sites that most tourist wish to see. The bus ticket, once purchased, is good for a full twenty four hour period, which will give you some time the mnext morning to see whatever you felt you have missed. Here is the link: http://www.irishcitytours.com/.
If you are basing out of Dublin, you can also avail yourself of several tours that take you outside of Dublin. I would highly recommend that you take Mary Gibbons' NewGrange Tour, www.newgrangetours.com, as this will guarantee that you will be one of the lucky ones to go inside the tombs. Another fun tour is the tour of Wicklow and Glendalough provided by Over the Top Tours, www.overthetoptours.com. It is different from other tours in that the bus is small, I think 14 seats, and it takes you off the beaten track. There is a pub crawl which I would recommend, The Traditional Music tour, www.discoverdublin.ie. Also, if you are into the supernatural, Zozimus, www.zozimus.com, would be a fun experience. A bit campy, some might say, but a thorughly enjoyable way to spend an evening. If you've a car, you could take two days and drive to Kilkenny or to Belfast. I hope this helps. Should you need anything more, drop me an email. Slan Beo (Take Care), Bit

My own list, although perhaps not 6 days worth of travel:
1. Guinness Brewery Tour + free pint at the top 2. Trinity College: Book of Kells, Library 3. Temple Bar: find a place for a pint and listen to some music 4. Walk/Shop through Grafton Street 5. Head to Upper O'Connell for a "city feel" 6. Jameson Brewery Tour 7. Service at St. Patrick's (we went to Sunday Evensong - amazing to read the history on the walls and hear the acoustics, even if a service isn't to your liking) 8. St. Stephen's Green Honestly, our favorite was finding a great pub and enjoying the evening. . .the other stops were us doing our duty as travelers.
