Tecate Tecate, Mexico

As previously suggested, a day trip to Tecate sounds interesting. What are some of the main things "to do or see" and is it easy to leave your car on the California side of the border and just cross over?

It's been a while since I was in Tecate, but there's not a lot to "see." Still, it is a border town, though not as large, popular or gaudy as Tijuana. I think the five main things would be, the town center park area, the Tecate Brewery, the food, maybe some shopping and the wineries in the area.

I'm not sure if there are parking places on the US side, but in any case, passing either way through the border--by walking or by car--is much faster than through Tijuana or Otay Mesa.

In your other post did someone mention the day-trip train from Campo? It only travels once a month but includes a tour of the Brewery and the little town. It might be worth checking out if they are scheduled to run during your visit.

There are parking lots only a block from the border. The Tecate brewery is within easy walking distance.

Matt, there is a website that has a walking tour of Tecate listed that describes what to see and do on a walking tour of the town. The website is: http://www.discoverbajacalifornia.com/documents/tkt_wt.pdf
