the tivoli gardens are right in the center of town next to the main train station.
i would say that is the most obvious place to take a kid that age: www.tivoli.dk

If you want to take a train west for about an hour, the town of Odense is lots of fun, very picturesque, and is the place where Hans Christian Andersen was born. There is an awesome park, and everything has a "magical storybook" feel. You can see the house where Hans was born. The town has several statues depicting characters from the stories.
The train ride is lots of fun because you cross several bridges, one of which is beautiful, and see sailboats along the way ... you also go into tunnels. Oh, I see, 10 hours ... it would be a bit tight to go to both Tivoli and Odense ... Tivoli did have some great rides!

Hi!
I would also recomend Tivoli which is if not the worlds oldest - at least Europes oldes amusement park. BUT there is also the option of seing the Little Mermaid on Langelinie or go to the museum of toys! For more ideas take a look at: http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/content/press/press this page gives a few ideas about what to do in Copenhagen with kids! Have a good time!
