We are bringing our grandson to Berlin for one day and would like for him to enjoy himself. What in Berlin would an 8 year old boy be interested in. Thank you for your help.

"Berlin for Families and Children":
http://www.visitberlin.de/english/zielgruppen/e_zg And in addition to that perhaps - the "Bonbonmacherei" (a small sweets manufacture) inside Heckmanhöfe (Oranienburger Straße, left hand side of the New Synagogue). - Sea Life & Aquadome inside Radisson SAS Hotel http://www.sealifeeurope.com/local/index.php?loc=berlin - Lego Miniland inside Sony center at Potsdamer Platz - Model railway Loxx http://www.loxx-berlin.com/en/index.html - the "High Flyer" or even a fly on a "candy bomber" http://www.air-service-berlin.de/index.php5?page=&lang=2

Ah!!! Berlin!
A bike tour of the city is lots of fun. I had enjoyed a similar tour in Munich, however my husband was no longer able to ride and I sent a note asking for a three-wheel bike - they actually suggested a Rickshaw - it was wonderful. This is a bike driven by a tour guide that accomodates two grownups - it was quite a bit of fun to see the city using a bike, and a good intro to Berlin. The dome at the Reichstag is another place he will probably enjoy - see photo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Germany_berlin_ Looks like you're in a gigantic spaceship. The views of the city are breathtaking! And going up the inclines is quite easy! *BONUS FUN* I noticed you're doing the Sweden/Denmark/Berlin route. Do you know that if you leave from Copenhagen to Berlin the train goes south in Denmark and boards a ferry to Germany? You may want to make *sure* your trip involves the ferry - it was such a fun experience! The "crossing" takes about 45 minutes, plenty of time to get off the train, go up the ferry, check out the number of vehicles in there, go upstairs and look at the water, the crossing, check the restaurants and duty free stores, and come back down. We took the ferry south from Denmark to Germany - I would speculate they also go the other way, but it was a real treat!

Ooops! Here's the link to the bike tour:
http://www.fattirebiketoursberlin.com/ If you'd like to arrange for a rickshaw you can go down to "Email us" and send them a note. It is a separate charge, but well worth it - I wonder if all three of you could ride, although it's usually for two people.

The site which Turtle already mentioned:
http://www.visitberlin.de/english/zielgruppen/e_zg is by far the best, because what you can do is depending on the weather: I recommend the "Museum für Verkehr und Technik" or the Naturkundemuseum which has original dinosaur skeletons http://www.naturkundemuseum-berlin.de/index.html
