My wife and I are thinking of cruising from Honolulu to New Zealand this fall and we are wondering if any has info about how rough the seas are in the South Pacific in late October and early November

Those months are actually the Southern Hemisphere's spring, heading into summer. October should be good , as it's still a SE tradewinds month, and the wind will blow anywhere from about 15-25 knots, in general. Some rain squalls come and go, but are usually brief. November gets into the beginning of the cyclone season, although cyclones are much more prevalent from December to about March. But the weather may be a bit more unsettled then. Swells will always be big in that area of the South Pacific, but this should not to scare you away, as most cruise ships have good stabilization systems. If you're prone to seasickness, take appropriate meds and you'll be fine. Have fun!
