Can anyone tell me how to go from Jerusalem to Mevasseret Zion?

If you're driving its an easy trip on the main Jerusalem - Tel Aviv highway. The turnoff is the bridge leading up to the right after you go up the hill - about 10 km all told.

If you take the bus it is bus number 153 which leaves Jerusalem approx. once an hour.

Or you can bargain with a taxi driver for a decent fare.

does the 153 leave from the central bus station or the railways station?

how much would the taxi ride cost?

From Jerusalem there are almost no buses from the train station. It is a temporary station.

I don't know if 153 leaves from the Central Bus Station. I will have to call them tomorrow - it is too late now - and ask. Will be in touch...

I have never taken that ride in a taxi, so I really can't tell you, but to Tel Aviv it is usually about US$50, so I think it might well cost you US$25-US$30 for a private taxi.

There may be a sherut (group taxi) that runs that route. Will try to find that out for you also tomorrow.

Corrections to my original posting above:

From Jerusalem Bus No. 153 goes only from Hadassah Ein Kerem into Mevessert Ziyyon. One time daily only at 16.30 hours.

From Jerusalem: Bus No. 154
First stop is Kikar Davidka, also from the Central Bus Station (gate #53), to the Har-El Junction. Approximately once an hour beginning at 06.34 in the morning. Last bus leaves at 00.04 (midnight)

From Jerusalem: Bus No. 155
Same as above, but begins earlier at 06.04 and last bus leaves at 00.34

Sample schedule below for a Sunday. It is the same Sun - Thurs, Fridays and Saturday night have different schedules.

These buses go to the Har-El Junction only. From there it is necessary to take a local bus or to walk.

Re the above from Tel Aviv. Yes, most drivers will stop and you can walk up the hill and over the bridge if you know where you are going...

I believe that's HarŽel Interchange that unaS do means with Har'el Junction. HarŽel Interchange lies in the middle of Mevaseret Tsiyon.

In Herbrew it says: 'machlef' - that could be translated easily as interchange, rather than junction.

Usually the Hebrew word 'tzomet' is translated as junction, so Jesp is probably correct.

I can't see the map because the site supports IE only, which I don't use.
