Doubt that you'll find a "cheap" one. You might look in a "second had store."

Walmart is probably going to be your best bet for a cheap hat you can throw away once you leave.
I think in a second hand store, they will probably be just about as expensive as a new one. It seems the more beat up it looks the more it will probably cost. Depending on what is "cheap" for you, any western wear shop should have a decent straw hat for around $50, if you are looking for a felt hat, expect to pay more. Sheplers has hats starting around $20 http://www.sheplers.com/hats/hats_under_50/

Everyone doesn't wear hats. I'd just save your money. Have a nice dinner, or buy something you'll have a more permanent use for. Gary

I have been to San Antonio three times, and I never noticed too many people with cowboy hats on. I live in a tourist town in Wyoming, and in the summer you can always spot the tourists by their brand new cowboy hats and fresh western shirts. Most locals do not walk around town with cowboy hats on, and those that do, usually have good quality hats, and they don’t usually look brand new. As far as I can tell it is pretty much the same in San Antonio, so don't spend the money unless you just want to have fun with a hat.
