Kuwait Scooters/Mopeds in Kuwait

Does anyone have any experience owning or riding scooters/mopeds in Kuwait? Have you ever seen anyone riding them on the roads? I will be coming to kuwait soon and I want to know if this is a viable option for short distance transportation.

All thoughts are appreciated.

Hi there
Well, I lived in Kuwait for a few years and the driving is very bad there! You will regularly see crashed vehicles at the side of the road. Apart from delivery drivers who use mopeds you won't see any foreigners using them. Did see a few locals with very fast motorbikes doing wheelies along the main roads on a weekend and did notice there is a Harley Davidson Society which was made up of foreigners. I suppose you could ride a motorbike/moped if you are very confident and are a very good driver, but probably most people would say that you are mad to even think about it!!

I agree, taking to the roads just about anywhere in the Gulf states without all the modern safety items (airbags, roll bars etc) is just dangerous. The roads are well built and long and flat and there is lots of money and fast cars. I guess the best thing about the country is that they don't drink too!

I lived in Kuwait 5 years and am now back there.
My one comment is this: It would be very foolish to even try to use a scooter/moped here. Walk or get a cheap taxi. And yes...no alcohol BUT there are drunks on the road...no place is truly 'alcohol free'.

I agree about there being drunks on the road in Kuwait too!! There are certainly ways and means of obtaining alcohol there.
